Riding alone makes for great you time, but introducing a group ride to your schedule will not only offer variety, you’ll meet new people, experience different routes, build your cycling skills, and discover new food and beer stops.
Here are three local group bike tours to consider.
Content for the bi-monthly History Bike Tampa tour can include anything from cigars, mafia, and Cuban revolutionaries to turn of the century women’s activism. Tours are two hours in length and begin at Kahwa Coffee’s location in downtown Tampa on the corner of N Tampa Street and E Polk St, where there’s a convenient bike share station.
On the other side of the bay, we host bike tours with St. Petersburg Preservation on the last Sunday of every month, taking in the hidden history of St. Pete’s buildings and neighborhoods. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for the next tour.
A social ride, leading 60-80 cyclists on a small plate tasting tour of some of Tampa Bay’s best restaurants. Urban Restaurant Tours usually take place on the third Thursday of every month but this can change, so be sure to check dates and purchase your ticket in advance.
- Critical Mass
Critical Mass is a large group ride with an emphasis on fun, meeting new people, promoting urban bicycle safety, skills, and confidence. Critical Mass Tampa meets at Curtis Hixon Park at 7:30pm every last Friday. Critical Mass St. Pete, meanwhile, meets at 7pm on the last Friday of every month, and usually departs from Green Bench Brewing Co.
