Car Free Day is a free international event celebrated every September 22 in which people are encouraged to get around without driving alone in cars and instead ride a train, bus, bicycle, carpool, vanpool, streetcar, pirate taxi (we live in Tampa Bay, after all) or walk. For those that have the ability to work from home, telecommuting is another option.
Do you think you can go car free for the day?
Using more sustainable ways to get around helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and traffic congestion. It’s good for your wallet and it’s pretty great for your health, too!
Commuting to and from work is just the beginning. On Car Free Day, why not challenge yourself to find alternative methods of transportation to run errands, meet friends for lunch, and grocery shop? You might just fall in love with the car-free lifestyle.
