The Capital Improvement Project features aesthetic lighting and landscape improvements to the I-275 Underpass at 22nd Street South, including construction of new sidewalks and colored concrete surfaces in the parkway, landscaping and new lighting components. The project also involves relocation of the limited access fence, removal of broken sidewalk and removal of asphalt from the parkway.
In addition to enhancing safety and aesthetics within The Deuces Business District, the Economic Development initiative will feature an art component. The Deuces Design Committee will be working in conjunction with the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance and St. Petersburg Public Arts Commission.
The project is located within the boundaries of the city’s innovative 30-year Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) initiative for South St. Petersburg. Construction costs for the initial phase is a little over $493,000, with completion anticipated by the end of October.
