It’s an official sign of the shifting season in St. Pete. As temperatures drop and autumnal porch decorations are dusted off and readied, St. Petersburg Preservation has announced its schedule for October Movies in the Park 2017, meaning fall is just around the corner.
Movie lovers were treated to a trivia-filled announcement party at The Ale and the Witch last night before the official artwork and titles for the season were unveiled.
The program will kick off on Thursday, October 5 with Mamma Mia! starring Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan. Marilyn Monroe classic Some Like It Hot will be shown on Thursday, October 12 with Spaceballs scheduled for Thursday, October 19. Steven Spielberg family favorite E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial will close the season on Thursday, October 26.
All movies will be shown under the stars at North Straub Park on the downtown waterfront. Music starts at 7 p.m with food and drinks from local vendors available for purchase. The events are free, but pay-what-you-can donations all benefit St. Petersburg Preservation.
The Coast Crew will be on-hand, too, providing bike valet for residents’ bikes under the pergola at the edge of Straub Park. There will also be a virtual Coast Bike Share hub for Coast bikes.
We’ll see you there!
