Bike Share 101: Lights, Seats And Bike Owners

This semester, Share-A-Bull Bikes merged with Coast Bike Share, the team behind the largest smart bike share operator in North America, servicing cities such as Vancouver, Beverly Hills, Atlanta, and now USF Tampa!

If you haven’t used bike share before, you might have questions.

What should I use bike share for?

Your student membership unlocks 100+ Share-A-Bull Bikes on campus and 600+ bikes across Tampa Bay. You can use the bikes to cruise to class, run errands, travel to and from appointments, and meet up with friends on campus. Don’t have a destination in mind, or wanting to get to know your new hometown? There’s nothing better than meandering and exploring Tampa and St. Pete on two wheels.

I already own a bike. Why would I use bike share?

For $7 a month, you can leave your bike at home. We’re giving you the keys to hundreds of bikes across Tampa Bay! Even if you do bring your bike to campus, bike share can still be useful. Out and about without your bike and needing to get from one end of campus to the other quickly? Hop on the nearest bike share bike you see. You’ll save the trouble of carrying a lock (our GPS-enabled locks are built in). You needn’t worry about parts being stolen, and it’ll save unnecessary wear and tear on your own bike. Not to mention, if you drive and find a great parking spot – either on campus or in downtown Tampa or downtown St. Pete – you won’t need to move your car.

Do the bikes fit everyone?

Our bikes are built to suit pretty much everyone. The lever under the (rain-resistant and very comfortably padded) seat will allow height adjustment. The settings are numbered, which makes it easy for you to remember your preferred seat height every time you ride.

Do the bikes have lights?

The bikes are all equipped with lights, which turn on automatically during active rentals. One of the many reasons we call them “smart” bikes.
