Spring has sprung, the sun is shining and the weather is blissfully cool. Make the most of April by grabbing a Coast bike and rolling to one of these events across Tampa Bay this month – each within a stone’s throw of a hub station.
April 6-April 9 – Fiesta Italiana in Tampa
Pasta, wine, music – transport yourself to Italy this weekend without ever leaving Ybor City. Fiesta Italiana is a three-day event honoring Italian culture by showcasing the Tampa Bay area’s finest food, drink and entertainment vendors. Eat, drink and enjoy events like the annual Bocce Ball tournament, the Italian Idol singing competition, and the Homemade Vino Competition.
April 7-9 – Tampa Bay Blues Festival in St. Pete
Blues artists from all over the country descend upon Vinoy Park this weekend. Every year since 1995, some of the biggest names in blues have taken to the waterfront stage. This year’s line-up includes Buddy Guy, Tab Benoit, Ana Popovic, Coco Montoya and the Rides. Continue the fun at after shows at Ringside Cafe and The Ale & the Witch on Friday and Saturday nights.
April 7, 21 and 28 – Friday Concerts in the Park in Tampa
The return of spring means the return of Tampa’s longest running and most beloved concert series; Friday Concerts in the Park. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket, and enjoy free live music in Water Works Park.
April 8, 15, 22, 29 – Movies in the Park in Tampa
Head to Water Works Park on Saturday nights throughout April and you’ll be treated to a free movie showing. Fun, family-favorites Hop, Blindside, The Lorax and The Wizard of Oz are on the schedule this year.
April 8 – The 7th Annual Tampa Chillounge Night in Tampa
Chillounge Night combines the ultimate outdoor lounge party with culinary flair to bring you “The Taste Edition” of Chillounge Night at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. Twenty area restaurants and a dozen food trucks provide signature dishes and tasty, diverse cuisines to the backdrop of live music and fireworks.
April 8 – Tater Tots and Beer Festival in Tampa
Guilty dining pleasures galore at this quirky little festival. Sample dozens of domestic, imported and craft beers and countless tater tot creations while enjoying live music.
April 10-April 25 – SunLit Festival in St. Pete
The SunLit Festival, a celebration of St. Petersburg’s literary scene, kicks off on Saturday and will include 14 events over nine days around St. Pete – almost all of them free.
April 22 – Mainsail Arts Festival in St. Pete
Mainsail Arts Festival, held annually over two days in April, routinely draws 100,000 attendees to downtown St. Pete’s Vinoy Park, where 200+ visual artists and craftspeople display their work against sparkling Tampa Bay.
April 22 – Earth Day in St. Pete
Help St. Pete join over a billion people in hundreds of countries around the globe for a community celebration of Earth Day, which will be held in Historic Williams Park. You’ll find green businesses, environmental activists, and family-focused activities, which aim to foster a deep appreciation for the planet we call home.
April 27 – April 30 – Sunscreen Festival in St. Pete
Voted one of the “25 Coolest Film Fests” in the country by MovieMaker Magazine, the Sunscreen Festival celebrates the film industry with more than 10,000 attendees – past celebrities have included John Travolta, Kelly Preston and Patrick Wilson – showing up for screenings, workshops and parties.
April 29 – Mayor’s Mac N Cheese Throwdown in Tampa
In addition to mac & cheese tastings, the Mayor’s Mac & Cheese Throwdown will feature craft beer and wine vendors, games, and a live stage with local and regional musical talent.
